At last, one can discover a powerful and phenomenal rock music here: from the first tunes of these fours tracks offered by French band Eko Animo, our ears suffer and ask for more. From the very beginning, one can understand that this musical land is hiding explosives, pain, violence, excitation and neverending body movements. Guitars sound dirty and acid, and run through one's skin as poisoned stings or hot pieces of metal on open wounds, which can only be curing a lack of heavy and strong music one has not heard for long years; close to Sonic Youth and Gang Of Four, the band perfectly testifies for these monuments of rock music. Then, one is immediatly captivated by frenetic energy and noisy sounds. A few electro loops reinforce the musical power of all songs, rhythms and noises are here to create an apocalyptic world in search of light, redemption, and oxygen. Muddy smokes disappear little by little and make the band's energy appear in front of one's eyes; and it's so good to hear this powerful music! Rock and sometimes new wave riffs, sometimes grey, dirty and muddy, are straight to the bone and close to dirty guitar sounds which can be heard in the magnificent live album Weld from Neil Young and Crazy Horse. But in such a violent world, a ray of light takes its place; and it is contained in subtle and delicate vocals. Sometimes reminding the listener of Patti Smith, sometimes of the Cocteau Twins but most of the time, Senser (by the way, a new album will soon be out, and I can't wait for it!...), vocals find their own and uncomparable place. As for the song Adrenalin from this latest band, each Eko Animo song is an invitation to move, get excited, and doesn't allow us to rest in any way; such an energyis better and more motivating than any chemical cofeine pill or drink, and goes through one's skin, devour all bodies and flesh, and awakes the beast within. Sonic wrath and delicate vocals penetrate one's soul and flies to the deepest and angriest emotions. And as a perfect standing for the band's talent, a surprising cover of Prince's When Doves Cry testifies for the whole band's talent and gift; they are ferocious, implosive, explosive, and sometimes delicate and sweet. This remarkabel EP never allows us to rest at any time, and is a wonderful piece of music which has to be listened and shared, lived and flavoured again and again... I personaly dream of a concert where two different but complementary bands would meet and play their energic and original music: Girls Under Pressure and Eko Animo... No doubt everybody will drown in sweat and tears...
